3 Tips to get the most out of Copilot (the free version)

As we welcome the New Year, it’s the perfect time to enhance your productivity and make the most of your interactions with Copilot. Whether you’re new to using Copilot or looking to refine your approach, these tips will help you start 2025 on a productive note:

1. Be clear and concise: When entering your prompts to Copilot, use polite language, proper punctuation, grammar, and capitalisation. Provide relevant details and context about the outcome you want.

2. Keep confusion at bay: Treat working with Copilot like a conversation. When switching tasks or starting a new topic, type “new topic” to keep things clear and organised.

3. Try again: Copilot is a Large Language Model (LLM), so it generates unique responses each time. If you’re not satisfied with the results, revise your prompt and try again.

4. View your chat history: To view your Copilot chat history, navigate to the “Chat” section within your Copilot interface (top right corner), where you should see a list of previous conversations; If the panel has been minimised, you can usually reveal this by clicking on the “Show Chats” button (small rectangle with arrow inside it).

5. Get the most out of a teams meeting: When in a teams meeting, click “More” and “transcribe”. At the end of your meeting, simply open copilot and ask it to “summarise and identify key points from the following text”, copy and paste the transcription into the text box and voila!
