FAQ

1. What can Microsoft 365 Copilot do in PowerPoint?

Microsoft 365 Copilot can help turn rough presentation content into a more polished deck by improving layout, applying styling, and refining the visual presentation of information. This is useful when you know the message is right but need help making the slides more client-ready.

2. Can Copilot apply our brand guide to a PowerPoint presentation?

Yes. If you provide your brand guide, such as a branding PDF with colours, fonts, and style rules, Copilot can use that information to update the presentation so it aligns more closely with your visual identity. This helps create decks that feel more consistent with the rest of your client-facing material.

3. How do I ask Copilot to restyle a presentation using our branding?

A direct prompt usually works well. For example, you can upload your brand guide and ask Copilot to “extract the styles and apply them to this PowerPoint.” This gives Copilot a clear instruction and a source document to work from.

4. Why is branding important when using Copilot in PowerPoint?

Branding matters because a generic design may not match the rest of your business communications. Even if a presentation looks polished, it can still feel out of place if the colours, fonts, or design elements do not reflect your brand. Applying your brand guide helps keep presentations professional, consistent, and ready to share with clients.

5. What kind of brand elements can Copilot pick up from a brand guide?

Copilot can work with items such as colour palettes, font choices, and layout instructions from a brand guide. It may also pick up small visual cues and reuse them in the presentation, helping create a result that feels more tailored rather than purely generic.

6. Can I still edit the presentation after Copilot applies the design?

Yes. Copilot does not lock the presentation. You can continue refining the slides, make manual changes, and ask Copilot for further adjustments. That makes it useful as a working partner rather than a one-time design tool.

7. Can I give Copilot feedback on specific slides or sections?

Yes. You can select content in the presentation and give directed feedback through the chat. For example, you can ask for different layout options, request changes to how content is arranged, or tell Copilot to make elements vertical instead of horizontal. This makes it easier to improve the deck step by step.

8. Is Copilot better for content or design in PowerPoint?

It can support both, but one of the strongest use cases is helping with presentation design once the content is already sound. If your focus is accuracy, messaging, and client relevance, Copilot can take on more of the visual heavy lifting so you can spend more time on the substance of the presentation.

All right, so let’s jump into PowerPoint. So use PowerPoint. fair bit. Uh, do lot of presentations. Uh, so had it. mock up just quick, uh, quick, demonstration here. Uh, and this was what it came up with for the, the, formatting and the presentation of, of, the information.
Now, my… in my. workflow, my focus is on the content, right? wanna make sure that what I’m presenting, uh, is, is absolutely accurate, is what the client is, is looking for. Um, and, and, so focus on the content. But I’m an IT guy at heart, right?
It’s lot of black text on white background, bullet points, uh, and not the most fun thing to look at from, from, a, you know, from a, presentation perspective. So that’s where lean on Copilot. I, want it to do the formatting and, and, make it look pretty.
Um, but you can see here, you know, dark, lots of purples. That’s pretty. classic IT, SaaS kind of thing. Um, that’s not Lanter branding. So can’t send something like this to the client. It’s just gonna look so out of place from everything else that’ we’ve sent them.
And so, uh, with Copilot, which you can’ access by just clicking the little button, uh, down here inside of PowerPoint, uh, can have it’ do, uh, some of that heavy lifting for me. So can come in and just drop and drag in the, the brand guide for Lanta.
Uh, and can say, uh, “Here is the, uh, company, uh, brand, branding PDF. Uh, extract the styles and apply them. to this PowerPoint.” And it’s gonna go away and do that. So, it might take little while, and if it looks like it’s taking too long, I’ll pull out the, uh, the copy of this, uh, you know, that prepared earlier.
But, um, it’s gonna extract… Now, that PDF is just series of hex codes and instructions on, you know, subtitles are like this, and these are the fonts we use. You can see it’s got, okay, outfit. Uh, we’ve got navies and greens, two kinds of blues. Um, and so you can kinda see what it’s, what it’s mapping out there.
Um, and so it’s gonna go through and hopefully do pretty good job of, uh, updating the, the styles here. Uh, now PowerPoint, you might not know this, uh, is actually very complicated code on, the, back end, so it’ might take little while. Uh, I’m hoping not too long.
didn’t pick the, uh, the, fast option in the, in the, in the model. Uh, so let’s see how we go. Now, my day-to-day, I’d just go make coffee, but, unfortunately with you sitting here looking, that’s not really an option. So let’s pull out the copy of this, one that was done earlier.
Now, if you have worked with Lanta before, you will start to see our colors here. immediately. And one of, the, you know, little nuances that it’s done here. is, this little hairline thing at the bottom, which if you look at the, the logo, you know, up, up here in the corner, is the Lanta way of doing things.
That’s actually our little graphic just flattened out. And so it does these nice little touches. Um, you can see that it’s used different colors. It’s quite… it’s, it’s still readable. Um, right? It’s not overwhelming. And so it’s done pretty good job of that. Um, and so, you know, for me, that’s phenomenal because again, my…
what, what, what my clients expect from me is that I’m, I’m giving them the, the real deal information, right? Like I’m focused on things that are important, what know most about. don’t know anything about formatting PowerPoints. I’m terrible at it, but I’m great automation and AI guy, right?
So that’s my focus, uh, on the content. And then have, uh, Copilot come in and help me do, uh, the formatting to make it something, uh, worth looking at, uh, or nice to look at. Uh, and so yeah, that’s one, one of those, one of those functions.
Now, you don’t have to stop there, right? Um, you can do edits within this, uh, from, from the Copilot chat. And if you select things, you’ll see here that it starts to kinda add that in as like a, “Hey, Copilot, this is what Kane’s talking about when he, when he sends his next prompt.” And so you can be quite directed with your feedback.
You know, you could select and say, “I don’t like this. Give me some other options.” Go back and forth with it. You tease out the option you like and you say, “Cool. Override it. Pop it in.” Uh, and it can put it in. You can do things like, “Hey, don’t like the way these are laid out.
want them to be vertical, not horizontal,” and it’ll go make that change. Um, and so you can really kinda tweak the, the PowerPoint as you go. It’s, it’s not case that, you know, you’ve got that one prompt to get it right and then, you know, you’re stuck.
Y- y- you’re on your own from there on. It’ll continue to work with you and update these things. And so, uh, it’s quite powerful in that respect, uh, because again, it allows you just to focus on the bit that, that you actually care about. Um, and so, uh…
Oh, just got the notification that it’s, that it’s finished. Oh, big risk live demo. Okay. So it’s applied the same kinds of colors. It’s different. It’s lot darker than the old one. Um, but you can see here, you know, it didn’t do the hairline thing, which really like, and probably tell it to do it.
Um, but you can see that it’s done pretty good job, like with just one prompt. Um, and so, you know, not a, not bad outcome, uh, especially considering, you know, where I, where would’ve started with this thing if it, if not for this, uh, tool.
Uh, so yeah, that’s, uh, that’s some of the Copilot insight of PowerPoint.
